The EU Delegation to India is organising EU participation at SIAL food fair and Vinexpo, 1-3 December 2022, Delhi.

The aim is to promote EU Geographical Indications (food and beverages) in India, to raise awareness about their specific quality, the benefits of GI protection for consumers and GI holders/producers/SMEs, to showcase the EU GI variety, all in view of the ongoing EU-India GI agreement negotiation.

The organisers will support one EU pavilion for GI food and one pavilion for GI beverages, including masterclasses for wine, and organise a small conference program during the fair. It is expected to achieve good press and social media coverage about EU GIs.

The Member States, stakeholders’ organisations and companies can nominate any GI they deem fit for export to India. Particular focus can be put on EU GIs which are already registered in India and the GIs subject to the previous FTA negotiations with India.

The EU pavilion offers a unique opportunity especially for the holders of GIs to be included in the upcoming EU-India GI agreement, establishing a gateway into an exciting Indian market.

The EU Delegation’s contractor will get in touch with the interested GI holders/producer as soon as possible in order to facilitate the arrangements for the importation of product samples or procurement of products in India. Interested Member States, organisations or companies should contact directly Maria.FLADL@eeas.europa.eu   .
